• February 10, 1995 - USS Cole is launched.

• June 8, 1996 - USS Cole is commissioned in Port Everglades, Florida.

• February - September 1998 - USS Cole is deployed to the Persian Gulf as a part of the John C. Stennis Battle Group.

• August - November 2000 - USS Cole is deployed to the Mediterranean and Red Sea as part of the George Washington Battle Group.

• October 12, 2000 - USS Cole is attacked while refueling at Aden Harbor, Yemen.

• October 31, 2000 - USS Cole begins return to the United States aboard the Norwegian heavylift ship S.S. Blue Marlin.

• April 19, 2002 - USS Cole is recommissioned in Pascagoula, Mississippi
