What role did the United States have as a Super Power in the 1990's?

 

• The United States was able to step in and take action to try and fix the problems in the Middle East

  • They teamed up the United Nations and fellow allies (Brittian, France, Soviet Union, Germany, Japan, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia) to try and remove Saddam from Kiwaut

• They brought in military power to try and resolve the problems in the Middle East

  • Operation Desert Storm

    • January 17, 1991 US-led attacks aimed to take out communication networks, weapons plants, and oil refinerieries

    • Febuary 27th Bush called cease fire to end the war

      • Saddam was supposed to recognize Kuwait and get rid of mass descruction weapons

• Saudi Arabia and Eqypt asked the US to help them

  • The United States was strong enough and had enough man power to go into the Middle East to fight against Saddam and his forces
